Should McDonalds get rid of Ronald McDonald...?

I was skimming through articles on my homepage and stumbled across an article that outlined a battle on whether or not McDonalds should dump their mascot, whom has been with them since 1963. One complaint was that Ronald promoted junk food to children, while others claimed he was merely too creepy. Should these complaints be taken seriousy and should McDonalds get rid of the clown?
