Are Gimelstob's comments a joke gone wrong?

Gimelstob, and his comments, are a joke gone wong. The guy was a mediocre player at best, and now he's trying to create buzz for himself by throwing out these outrageous comments, probably to boost his broadcasting career, who knows. His coverage of the Pacific Life and Sony Ericsson events earlier this year was horrible. His voice is nasal and whiny, and he even made several ist comments about WTA players, such as calling them "girls" and other derogatory names, which he got chastised for by an obviously irate Chanda Rubin (a fellow commentator) at one point. The guy is a jerk.
