If you had 2 mascot characters, one named Kit, and one named Kat, would it break copyright?

Or what about one character named Kitkat? I feel like the name Kitkat should be able to be used, if written a particular way. And if its used as a mascot's name, a mascot designed like a person, wouldn't that be okay?
