Having trouble using YM to send sms msgs to a Sprint fone. YM on iPhone ok, Sprint fone repsonses get lost?

I'm using Yahoo Messenger on my iPhone 3G. I send im's which r rcvd, but repsonses from the Sprint Samsung fone very seldom come thru. Had the same problem with regular sms, thought this would be better, but it's not. Appreciate any help
